CHALLENGE HAND MADE TUBULAR STRADA TIRE
Our Handmade Tubular Tires (HTU) perform better than any tubeless system! That is why they are raced by all the best athletes and teams in every cycling segment.
The latex inner tube is cradled inside the high quality casing that is sewn closed, forming a soft protective layer for the delicate tube. A base tape is glued onto the seam for protection and to absorb the adhesive applied later to hold the tubular on the rim.
The casing is mounted on a rim, inflated and a special natural rubber tread is precisely glued to the top. Layers of puncture protection and sealants can be applied to the finished housing, depending on the use of the tubular.

Tire pressure
Tire pressure directly influences the comfort, handling, durability and rolling resistance of a bicycle. For example, tests have shown that a properly designed and inflated tire provides 20 times more compliance (shock absorption) than a combined carbon fiber frame, fork and wheelset. This absorption of tire shock is essential for a safe and pleasant ride at any distance.
A tire can only work to its full potential when properly inflated. Each Challenge tire includes a range of air pressure. If the air pressure is too low, the risk of punctures, loss of traction and wear increases
An overly inflated tire stiffens the ride which adversely affects traction, cornering grip and rolling resistance. Always inflate and maintain tire pressures in the specified range.
All bicycle tires continually lose pressure, and handmade top tier tires can lose air pressure faster than vulcanized tires because the soft materials used in their construction are more permeable. For this reason you should check and adjust the tire pressure before each trip.
